lunch on sunday

 /

Just like the ones you order at a restaurant - crispy on the outside, yet juicy on the inside. It's spicy chicken wings and it's easy, peasy, japanese-y. The secret: Sasa Tepung Bumbu Ayam Spesial. This in kind of a guilty pleasure since I have always tried my best to avoid all instant spices. But sorry, I can't resist this one. This is my second go and it tastes sooo good. Plus, it takes only half an hour and you're done! Definitely a solution today when the baby wouldn't take his nap and the nonstop crawling everywhere:)
A tip from me is to not overuse the spice. If you cook half a kilo of chicken, then use half the amount of spice in the pack. Don't force the whole package to get extra flavor coz it will taste tangy. Happy Sunday!

little farmer wall pockets

Little Farmer is on his feet. When I posted about my baby line-to-be here, I didn't think I would come over the much obstacles. So even though the clothes department of Little Farmer is on hold, I am soft launching the accessory collection, and here is the first bundle - wall pockets for the little ones (or even the adults). It's handmade from cotton fabric with a touch of felt-fun.

The first pocket was ordered for my nephew, Ken, a fan of Thomas the Tank Engine. So there goes... happy soft launching for Little Farmer wall pockets. Wish Little farmer some luck! :)

fluffy pancakes

Finally, I found the perfect recipe for the fluffiest pancakes. My pancakes never were this soft until I found "The Secret". When I tried it out last Sunday, I was thrilled that they were actually fluffy! The mister, being the pancake lover he is, gave it an A :) We had our pancakes with chocolate, vanilla, and mocca flavored ice cream. Yumm-O! Here's the recipe:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg
3/4 cup milk
1/4 cup shortening melted

First,  throw in the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt, then add all the wet ingredients - egg, milk and shortening and stir them into the dry ingredients until you get a moist, even, and thick  pancake batter. Be sure that the batter is a little difficult to pour on your pan, because the pancakes will be fluffier.
Pour the batter on to a hot nonstick pan and cook the pancakes on low heat. Since the batter is thicker don't use to much heat because your pancakes will turn brown on the outside and will still not be done in the middle. Turn the pancake around when bubbles form on top of it and then cook until the second side is golden brown.

"The Secret" for extra fluffiness:
1. Sift the flour.
2. Separate the egg whites from the yolk and beat them until they turn to white creamy snow. Then follow the fluffy pancake recipe except don't add the egg whites to the batter. Only when the batter is mixed and ready slowly and gently stir in the egg whites.
3. Substitute some milk (1/4 cup) with mineral water.
You'll know if your pancakes are fluffy or not by the texture. The more little bubbles form in the pancake, the more fluffier they are. Try it out! You'll love the results :)

dreamesh at home

You must love Amesh's creations for Dreamesh Living. I love the fabric prints and color combinations, which leaves me with no choice but to 'invite' these softies to stay at my place for good.

The Tigari Pillow with an initial for Fabian to accompany him in his cot. Amesh actually gave this one for Fabian's way-too-early birthday present ;) We love it!

The patchwork pillow with vibrant colors. It brightens just about everything, everywhere.

The Poun. It's lightweight makes it easy to move and carry around. That's why it's never in one place, but it's usually in my room where I sit on to watch TV. Oh, and Fabian likes to push it around while learning to stand up straight. Multifunction I say! Hmm... now what else would Dreamesh Living have for me to adopt? Hee hee...

dapur gawat darurat

or 'kitchen emergency'.  The concept of this Icip-icip article was dishes that you could cook with the limited ingredients in your kitchen - shown in the picture. The emergency recipes included fried rice, fried noodles, and omelette noodles, really basic recipes but well loved (and filling). I did find it quite hard to style these ingredients, the composition never seemed quite right at first. Here's how the final result looked like. Laily Rachev took the picture and with a touch of magic, the colors came out very pretty. These ingredients are real dull in color. Oh, I miss styling food...

black floral skirt project

I adore this skirt I bought at a flea market for only 10.000 rupiahs. It used to be a routine outfit at the office back then :) I just love the lines adding accent around the classic flower prints. Even though the waist part doesn't fit me anymore (booo), I'm not at all planning to hand it down to anyone. Don't blame me for being a bit selfish, it's too pretty to let go.

Anyhow, blogging land has been kind in giving me ideas to keep the skirt in another form. Look what I found that I could definitely transform my skirt in to.

Cut out for display in a frame like these botanical prints on black paper found via little green notebook.

Which one shall I pick? I can picture them looking all so nice in my head. Oh no, now I'm confused.
